Welcome to SOT POD (State of Texas POD). SOT POD is a one of many chapters set up to serve CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) on a local basis. The goal of CASI is to promote chili and raise money for charity. CASI is a non profit charitable organization. CASI puts on over 450 chili cook offs through out the chili season. Men’s State Chili Championship March 31, 2012

Well it’s that time again for the Texas Men’s State Championship. The event is held at the County fairgrounds in Johnson City, TX. This year should be one to remember. There are so many good cooks out there and it will be interesting to see who the top 10 will be this year.

Texas Men’s State Chili Blanco County Fairgrounds, west side of Hwy 281, just south of bridge crossing the Pedernales River Benefits many Johnson City charities and emergency services. RV parking w/limited electric. Park opens Thursday morning at 8 AM. Cooks’ party Friday night. Potluck Thursday night. Entertainment Friday and Saturday nights. Domino tournament, open cash beans, wings, and much more. Special bronze longhorn trophy and $500 TICC expense money to 1st place chili. Texas Open, Traders Village, San Antonio, Texas

February 25th was this years Texas Open at Traders Village in San Antonio, Texas. It was such a fun time and everyone seemed to have a great time. Congratulations to all the winners. There were 197 chili cups turned in….Wow! The Texas Open is an automatic qualifier, so top 3 get qualified for Terlingua International Chili Championship 2012. Below are the winners.

Texas Open Junior Chili Winner!!!

The winner of the Texas Open Juior Chili Competition was non other than Kobie Talavera. You may know Kobie and her sisters Kamryn and Kasey, they are the children of SOT PODers Kelly and Robert Talavera. Kobie is 5 years old and has been cooking chili 1 week before the competition. She actually sometimes helps her mom and dad stir or dump in their spices. Congratulations to Kobie and we hope to see her and maybe her sisters cooking at Ladies State 1st Annual Little Miss Ladies State Championship.
